Drying and Protecting

Preservation of the flowers is a time consuming task which involves separating each individual flower out of the bouquet, and drying it according to the unique procedure required for that particular type of flower. The quicker the flowers can be dried, the better they will keep their colour, and be safe from insect pests and moisture damage. Normally it takes about six to eight weeks for the entire process of drying, tinting and framing the flowers. It can be done more quickly if required.

Choice

Most flowers are suitable for drying and framing providing they are delivered to us in a fairly fresh condition. Some flowers such as cymbidium orchids and other 'fleshy' flowers are not very suitable. We can advise on the most suitable flowers to use. It is best to give some thought as to the best flowers to use in advance of the wedding if you know that you will be preserving the bouquet. If you do not decide until after the wedding, then don't worry, it's not too late !

Just keep the flowers fresh and call us as quickly as possible.

Preservation

Some examples of colour change:
  •   White flowers tend to turn cream
  •   Deep red roses go darker
  •   Most other colours either deepen or lighten

We use floral tints where necessary so that flowers will retain their colour longer.

Do not spray the fresh flowers with water as it tends to cause white flowers, in particular, to turn brown upon drying. Be careful not to crush or bruise the flowers. If roses are to be wired, it is best not to poke the wire through the petals, as this will leave a mark which is difficult to disguise.

We are more than happy to accept your flowers without any prior arrangements. Just give us a call. However, don't leave it too late. The fresher the flowers the better. Only fresh flowers are suitable for best results.
